Primary objectives and outcomes

Emerging economies are lacking venture capital and private equity capital, essential for scaling new technologies such as carbon removal, climate-smart agriculture, and adaptation technologies. This event aimed to explore investment models that balance risk/return with development impact, and to showcase success stories from global agritech companies and carbon capture businesses. Additionally, methods for accelerating capital inflows through ecosystem building, regulatory risk mitigation, and blended finance were also discussed.

Content of the discussions

・JICA's Deputy Director, Takahashi, introduced JICA's blended finance initiatives and examples of support for building startup ecosystems through technical cooperation.
・Other panelists discussed measures to integrate both climate resilience and social impact, as well as growth areas such as renewable energy, storage batteries, sustainable agriculture, and water management.
・As a specific example, a case study of collaboration between investors and off-takers in a biomethane project in Brazil was shared.
