Content of the discussions

・Tatjana Rosito from Ministry of Finance of Brazil stated that the $1.3 trillion climate finance roadmap announced at COP30 emphasizes the importance of private finance, but also emphasized the crucial role of public development banks as catalysts. He also stated that the country platforms in emerging and developing countries where projects will be implemented aim to go beyond traditional matchmaking between international finance and project needs to realize PPPs.
・AFD's CEO Rioux stated that the IDFC statement announced at COP30 pledged to increase climate finance, and that it aims to achieve transformational finance through innovations such as mobilizing private finance and expanding guarantees.
・Director of BNDES Filho cited projects in the Amazon region as an example and emphasized the importance of preparatory work for implementing climate finance.
・Citi Bank's Vice Chairman Collins noted the role of country platforms established in emerging and developing countries, and emphasized strengthening collaboration in hard-to-abate sectors (such as steel and cement).
・KFW Chief Sustainability Officer Kern stated that, taking into account the international situation, he would like to carry out activities that are conscious of leveraging private capital to mobilize through innovation and emphasized the importance of collaboration among IDFC members, as seen in the loan agreement concluded with BNDES at COP30.
・JICA's Director General for Sustainability Management Inada shared JICA's strengthened climate and nature conservation finance over the past year, including (1) expanding private and innovative finance (such as amendment of JICA Act,launch of Private Capital Mobilization Financing, and expanding the GCF's accreditation status), (2) introducing biodiversity mainstreaming (such as developing the JICA Biodiversity Finance Impact Tool (Biodiversity FIT)), and (3) lending to IDFC member institutions (DBSA in Southern Africa, BOAD in West Africa, and BNDES in Brazil).
