Content of the discussions

At the COP30 venue, a signing ceremony was held for the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) concerning the early-announced technical cooperation project, “Project for the Recovery of Degraded Pastures and Sustainable Agricultural Land Conversion in the Cerrado Region.”
During the event, in the presence of Minister of Agriculture Fávaro, Embrapa President Silvia, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Brazil Hayashi, JICA Vice President Miyazaki declared the adoption of the new technical cooperation project and explained its expected contributions and anticipated outcomes. He also expressed the intention to jointly address global challenges such as climate change and food security through cooperation on pasture restoration and sustainable land conversion, citing successful cases from JICA’s flagship collaboration—the Japan-Brazil Cerrado Agricultural Development Cooperation Project (PRODECER).
In their speeches, Minister Fávaro and Embrapa President Silvia conveyed gratitude for past cooperation with JICA and expressed high expectations for the new technical cooperation project. Furthermore, during the event, Embrapa researchers involved in launching the project presented the results of a proof-of-concept (PoC) initiative conducted prior to the official start of the project.
