Primary objectives and outcomes
・Sign a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) related to the technical cooperation project “Project for the Recovery of Degraded Pastures and Sustainable Agricultural Land Conversion in the Cerrado Region” (an early selection case from the FY2025 request survey) during the event.
・Present interim results of the Proof of Concept (PoC) activities currently being implemented under an approved technical cooperation project.
Content of the discussions
In response to the early notification of the technical cooperation project “Project for the Recovery of Degraded Pastures and Agricultural Land Conversion,” requested by the Government of Brazil during the 2025 needs survey, a signing ceremony for the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) related to the technical cooperation project “Project for the Recovery of Degraded Pastures and Sustainable Agricultural Land Conversion in the Cerrado Region” (an early selection case from the FY2025 request survey) was held at the COP30 venue.
On this occasion, Vice President Miyazaki, representatives from counterpart organizations, and the Embassy of Japan in Brazil each delivered speeches highlighting the significance of the project and its expected impact. In addition, a researcher from the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa), the implementing agency on the Brazilian side, presented interim results of the Proof of Concept (PoC) activities currently being carried out under the project.

※After the closing, additional MoC signatures for pending agreements were completed in a separate room, followed by mutual expressions of gratitude for the successful conclusion of the event and confirmation of further cooperation. Finally, JICA mentioned an invitation for the Brazilian government to participate in Expo 2027.
