Emergency Assistance to the Republic of Guatemala in Response to the Serious Damages caused by Tropical Storm

The Japan International Cooperation Agency will provide emergency relief goods as below in response to the serious damages mainly caused by Tropical Storm Julia in Guatemala, upon the request from the Government of Republic of Guatemala.

1. Disaster situation
The tropical storm has been causing serious human and property damage. According to National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction -CONRED-, the damage situation as of October 18 was as follows:
Deaths 65
Affected 5,719,299
Missing 9

2. Goods supplied
A. Emergency relief goods (from the JICA warehouse in Miami)
Blanket
Sleeping Pad

B. Shipping schedule
The goods will be transported from the JICA warehouse in Miami to Guatemala (Guatemala city) on the next available flight.
