African Union Delegates Visit Horizon Tires to View KAIZEN Implementation

Continuous improvement that involves everyone is the core principle of the KAIZEN management philosophy. While perfected in Japan, KAIZEN is slowly gaining acceptance in Africa and JICA is at the center of the dissemination efforts.
Horizon Tires is one of the most successful executioners of the KAIZEN philosophy in Ethiopia and was also given the top award at the 2021 Africa KAIZEN Awards. Therefore, it was the ideal company to showcase KAIZEN to a delegation from the African Union Commission (AUC), in the hopes of furthering its acceptance in the continent.
Representatives from Morocco, Burkina Faso, Mauritius and Mauritania, including a team from the Partnerships Management and Resource Mobilization Directorate of the AUC listened to presentations on how the company was able to reduce waste, decrease costs and increase profits thanks to KAIZEN. The presentation was followed by a visit to the factory floor to view how KAIZEN has improved workflows and decreased on-the-job accidents.
We are hopeful that this visit will propel KAIZEN activities in the home countries of the delegates.
