Technical Cooperation
3. Training Program
b. Third Country Training Program (TCTP)
In the effort to promote Technical Cooperation among Developing Countries (TCDC), JICA initiated a third party cooperation with a number of developing countries through the Third Country Training Program. The main characteristics of this scheme are as follows:
- Provides fellowships to participants from outside the host country
- Transfers appropriate technology by providing training which better suits the needs and respective conditions of participating countries
- Promotes technical cooperation through the extension of technical and financial assistance to host countries, providing the concerned training organization with the necessary operating funds and *experts under the expert dispatch program.
Under this scheme, participants from the host country and neighboring countries undergo training in a research or educational institute or government agency in the host country. The choice of a training institute is founded on its leadership in the area or field of study in the region as well as its capacity to handle the program.
(*) Dispatch of expert: The Third Country Training Program is undertaken on the premise that the Organization is capable of implementing the course. When necessary, however, Japanese expert/s may be dispatched to render assistance to the training program.
