3 Vehicles Donated to Agriculture Ministry by JICA

Through its Ethio-SHEP project, JICA has donated two Coaster Buses and one Land Cruiser to the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA). Members of the SHEP project, which focuses on horticulture development and the empowerment of farmers in Amhara and Oromia Regions, are confident that the vehicles will alleviate the transportation concerns of extension workers as they continue to provide services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Present at the handover ceremony were H.E Mr. Wondale Habtamu, State Minister for Horticulture Development Sector, MoA, and Mr. Katsuki Morihara, Chief Representative of JICA Ethiopia Office.

Mr Morihara emphasized JICA's commitment to ensuring the success of smallholder farmers through continued knowledge transfer and technical training by experts from Japan. The State Minister thanked JICA for its longstanding relationship and commitment to Ethiopia and noted that the vehicles will be fully utilized in the field to carry out various training activities.

For over 30 years, JICA has been supporting the agriculture sector in Ethiopia and currently has 10 projects across the country. JICA will continue to support the sector by aligning its interventions in accordance with the Government of Ethiopia's new Ten-Year Plan.
