Ethiopian Company Number One at Yearly Africa Kaizen Awards

Horizon Addis Tyre Manufacturing PLC beat out 15 organizations from nine African countries to take home the Outstanding Prize at this years' Africa Kaizen Awards. The company showed that it has improved its machine productivity by 21 percentage points while increasing its labor productivity by two percentage points since 2019, the highest from all of the nominated companies.

In the small and medium scale category, another Ethiopian company, Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Supply Agency (EPSA) - Hawassa Branch, was awarded the Excellent Prize.

The Awards are given to organizations that have made substantial improvements in quality and productivity, or "Kaizen", and can be presented as model cases to be shared throughout Africa.

Supplementary to their awards, the winners in the Outstanding and Excellent categories will also receive exclusive online lectures by expert members of the examination committee to further upgrade Kaizen on-site.

The award ceremony was held as part of the Africa Kaizen Annual Conference 2021, a three-day hybrid conference consisting of online and on-site events from August 24-26, hosted by the Tanzanian government and co-organized by the African Union Development Agency - New Partnership for Africa's Development (AUDA-NEPAD) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
