Filming a Video for Ethiopian Highland Leather

The Ethiopia Industrial Promotion Project (Export Promotion) (Phase 2) aims to increase the export revenue of leather products, and has supported the launch of Ethiopian Highland Leather (EHL), a national brand of sheepskin materials, and strengthened its brand management. One of its activities is the production of promotional video for EHL.

In May this year, the project started working with a local video production company. The project and the company discussed and updated the storyboards frequently and finalized the structure, and started fiilming in August. The filming started at the end of the rainy season but it still rained a lot, and the production team had to fly a drone through the slightest intervals of rain to film the landscape in the highland, where the sheep are located. The video shows how leather goods have taken root in the lives of Ethiopians as they move from traditional rural life to the modern city. In particular, the video focuses on the makers of leather materials, bags and shoes, and the people who use them, showing the richness of their expression.

It will be a short film of about two and a half minutes and will be screened at the events and exhibitions that EHL will be showcased, as well as being made available to the public on YouTube. The project is working with our counterparts to finalize the video for presentation at the World Leather Congress and the International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies conference in Addis Ababa in November this year.
