All African Leather Fair, which is one of the biggest international apparel trade shows in Africa, took place in Addis Ababa from 3rd to 6th of December 2021. Ethiopia Industrial Promotion Project (Export Promotion) (Phase 2) participated in the event as part of PR activities of Ethiopian Highland Leather (EHL), the national brand of sheepskin material developed by the project, showcased EHL materials and products, and held a seminar about EHL.

At the EHL booth, eight partner companies exhibited their EHL products. On the first day of the event, Hon. Mr. Sisema Gebrselassie, State Minister of the Ministry of Industry, visited the booth and expressed his gratitude for the technical support provided to the Ethiopian leather industry by the project. The number of visitors to the booth reached approximately 350 for the four days.

On the third day, the project held a seminar on the theme of "Made in Sustainable Lifestyles of EHL," where more than 30 people attended and filled almost all the seats in the hall. The seminar began with a presentation by Mr. Daniel Getachew, Secretary General of ELIA^[1], on the project activities and the EHL brand concept, followed by a presentation made by a representative of LIDI^[2] on the science-based characteristics of EHL and the brand certification criteria. Also, representatives from the three partner companies made presentations on their sustainable practices in production. After the presentation, the seminar participants had a lively discussion on the sustainable development of EHL.

In addition, the project launched a new EHL promotional video at the seminar. The video is now available on YouTube, and the project hopes that many people will view it and get interested in EHL.
