1st Training in Japan for Climate Resilience Adaptation was held

The first training on the theme of climate change adaptation was held in Japan from April 22-30, 2023. Four counterparts from three organizations attended the training through JICA's Project for Strengthening Climate Resilience Through Climate-Smart Agriculture, Forestry, and Natural Resource Management in Ethiopia. Another training for this project will be held in July.

The training held this time is mainly for higher officials, and the four participants are Mr. Addis Negash, Mr. Samson Emiru from the Ministry of Agriculture Climate Change Team and Mr. Elias Kedir, Deputy Head of Oromia Bureau of Agriculture, and Mr. Bona Yadessa, Deputy Director of Oromia Environment Protection Authority.

They attended lectures on the theme of climate change adaptation and also made a courtesy visit to JICA Headquarters. To understand the roles of the central government, they visited the Ministry of Environment, and National Institute for Environmental Studies, Forestry Research Institute. To understand the roles of the local government, they visited Ibaraki Prefectural Regional Climate Change Adaptation Center. They also visited a sweet potato farmer in Hitachinaka city and observed the adaptation practice.

The brief contents of the lectures at each of the places visited are summarized below.

The results of the training in Japan were shared at the 2nd JCC held on 15th May, 2023.
