The Project for Modernization of Public Transport in Belgrade (hereinafter referred to as "the Project") held its first seminar on December 14, 2021 in Belgrade under the title "Current Trends and Future Opportunities in Public Transport".
The seminar was attended by representatives from public transport organizations and operators from European countries, as well as representatives from organizations, operators, companies, and academic institutions in Serbia. This audience and mix of participants which transcend the boundaries of industry, government, and academia, gave presentations on a wide range of topics, including the status quo, challenges, and future direction of public transport in their respective cities. The agenda for the seminar is attached in the table below.
The seminar was attended by some 130 participants from various countries, including the Deputy Mayor of the City of Belgrade, the Ambassador of Japan to Serbia, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), a German international aid organization, and private industry including mobility consultants. As part of the seminar, active discussions were held among the participants to provide a medium for the sharing of knowledge, lessons learned and experiences across countries and cities.
The Deputy Mayor and the Secretary of the Secretariat for Public Transport, the City of Belgrade (hereinafter referred to as "SfPT") announced the seminar and the significance of the project to the local media through a press conference, and the seminar was covered by various media the following day.
Given the success and turnout of this seminar, we will continue to hold public transportation seminars as a forum for sharing and disseminating information related to the Project, and will translate the lessons and insights gained from these seminars into the improvement of public transportation in Belgrade.
