A seminar titled "TPMA's role in PRTR" was jointly organized by the JICA expert team and Thailand Paint Manufacturer's Association (TPMA) at Centara Grand at Central Ladprao on July 8th, 2014. Over 50 participants from TPMA member firms attended the seminar.

The main objective of the seminar was to raise awareness among the member firms of TPMA. In PRTR, the paint industry plays a very important role in non-point source estimation and reduction efforts of many organic solvents and other chemicals. The JICA expert team considers the paint/construction field as one of the three important non-point sources under PRTR, along with agriculture and mobile sources.

The seminar was opened by the president of TPMA, Mr. Worawat Chaiyosburana, followed by brief remarks by JICA expert team leader Mr. Munehiro Fukuda. The following session included presentations by the PRTR project counterparts, Ms. Teerapon Wiriwutikorn (PCD), Ms. Sirakarn Leungsakul (DIW), and JICA expert, Mr. Yoshiharu Shirane, about various aspects of PRTR and Japanese examples of paint manufacturer's role in PRTR. The final session was a panel discussion moderated by Ms. Bai Eason, Secretary-General of TPMA. All participants confirmed the great success of the seminar.
