ASEM of the working Group on Customs Matters

On May 5th to 7th 2010, the 4th meeting of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) working group on customs matters (AWC) was held in Hanoi hosted by Vietnam Customs. On the first day of the meeting, Vietnam customs organized the dialogue with traders under the theme of “Customs-Trade day: towards a true partnership”. The Dialogue was attended by over 180 participants from ASEM Customs Administration, Asian and European business community in Vietnam and diplomats from ASEM countries in Hanoi. During the Dialogue, ASEM customs introduced to the participants with the ASEM Customs cooperation in particular Intellectual Property Right (IPR) enforcement , trade facilitation and models of Customs-Business. On the second and third day, after conducting close and in-depth discussion among ASEM Customs Administration, the chair and co-chair of the meeting concluded that the “Customs-Trade Day” is important forum for both customs and business circle. The model and structure of consultation and dialogue should be further studied to maximize effectiveness and efficiency of customs administrative operation.
