Welcome Monitoring Volunteers! – Corroboration with Tay Bac Univ.

On February 16, 2011, seven Tay Bac University (TBU) students were arrived in Dien Bien Phu as Monitoring Volunteers of SUSFORM-NOW.

In the morning on February 17, 2011 the students moved to each Pilot Site and started participatory observation of villagers and Pilot Activities of the Project, staying at villagers’ house whole the period of their assignment. Their field-notes may illustrate endogenous development of villagers, which is difficult to measure and evaluate by quantitative indicators, and monthly reports may provide meaningful field information to the Project Team outside of the Pilot Sites. The duration of their assignment is about two months and TBU will continuously dispatch its students by rotation. JICA also just started Technical Cooperation Project for Strengthening of Tay Bac University for Sustainable Rural Development of the Northwest region, so it will be a possibility to link the two JICA Projects under the Northwest Program of JICA.

The Project hopes through this monitaring activity, Monitering Volunteers will not only find seeds of success for the Project but also personally develop themselves in the field.
