Vital discussion in the workshop

MARD DMC (Disaster management Center) and JICA expert team jointly organized workshop at Dan Nang (core city of central Vietnam) from July 26 to 28 aiming capacity development of the disaster management organizations and staffs.

Sixty four (64) peoples from central and local government / organizations attended in this workshop. These attendants are expected as the trainer for the other staffs belong to their organizations. This workshop is concentrated to three themes as "Low cost and small scale river bank protection" "Flood simulation and hazard mapping" and "Community disaster management". Further, two lectures "River bank protection in Japan"and "Dam Management in Japan" were presented by two JICA short term experts Mr. Unoki Kazuhiro, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and Mr. Noguchi Sumihiko, Japan Water Agency.

Field training at pilot site

Further, field training for low cost small scale river bank protection and community disaster management was conducted at the pilot site.

Based on the questionnaire after workshop, 70% of the attendants responded "Very good" or "Good "in most of the questions. The attendants are expected to continue training and workshops in various places.
