On 11 May, 2011, a working group meeting for getting comments on the 1st Draft of MCH handbook was held in the meeting room at the Maternal and Health department (MCH Dept.) of the Ministry of Health (MOH).

In the meeting, there were 14 participants including representatives of MCH Dept. and of Health Service Administration (MOH), JICA MCH Handbook Project office, National Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, National Pediatrics Hospital. Experts from MOH and National institutions were invited to the meeting to give comment from different professional viewpoint. Experts from the National Expanded Immunization Programme and from the National Institute for Nutrition participated by sending their comments.

After the opening speech from Dr. Nguyen Duy Khe (Director of MCH Dept., MOH), Ms.Akemi Bando, the Project Chief Advisor, explained about the MCH handbook use in the world and experiences in implementing the MCH handbook in Vietnam. Then, Dr. Dinh Thi Phuong Hoa, Project Advisor, explained each page of the 1st draft of the revised MCH handbook.
The participants gave a lot of comments for the contents of the MCH handbook by their specific fields and the discussion was very lively. Taken all comments from this meeting, the MCH handbook will be revised to 2nd draft.
