The project conducted the Workshop on Project Management from 18 to 20 October, 2011 in Hanoi. Each provincial Project Management Unit (PPMU) of Dien Bien, Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa and An Giang was represented by four participants in the workshop.

The purpose of the workshop was the following:

1. To introduce the latest draft of MCH Handbook, Guidelines, and training manual;
2. To give orientation on project documents: objectives, outcomes, activities, plan of action;
3. To introduce the project guidance on management and implementing: organization, mechanism, function & responsibilities, statistics and reporting system, monitoring and evaluation;
4. To introduce the project guidance on budgeting and financial report;
5. To practice on making yearly plan, quarterly plan (action plan and budget plan).

On the first day, Dr. Nguyen Duc Vinh – Project Director and Vice Director of Maternal and Child Health Department (MCH dept.) in the Ministry of Health (MOH) gave opening speech, and Ms. Chu Xuan Hoa (Program Officer, JICA Vietnam Office) gave welcome speech.

After that, Dr. Nguyen Duc Vinh (Vice Director of MCH dept.), Dr .Tran Hoang Nam (Officer, MCH dept.), and Ms. Nguyen Hong Linh (Project officer) introduced the outline of the project, plan of actions in the future, and regulation for the project implementation etc. In addition, the draft version of posters and leaflets were also introduced.

Associate Prof. Dr. Dinh Thi Phuong Hoa, who is a project advisor, had a presentation on the final draft of Maternal and Child Health Handbook, guideline, and training manual.
