Project orientation for Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers who are related to the project

Collaboration among the project for Implementing Maternal and Child Health Handbook for Scaling Up Nationwide and Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) is prioritized in JICA Program. At present, there are 3 JOCVs that are related to the project.

The project conducted a Project orientation program for the JOCVs for 5 days, at the project office and others institutions in Hanoi.

The purposes of the orientation for JOCVs are:

  1. To understand health care system, health situation and health care on Maternal and Child Health field in Vietnam.
  2. To understand the project activity and expectation for JOCV.
  3. To think about ideas how to collaborate with the project activity

JOCVs made a courtesy call to Dr. Nguyen Duc Vinh, vice director of Maternal and Child Health Department (MCH dept.) of the Ministry of Health (MOH). The JOCVs introduced themselves in Vietnamese.

Dr. Nguyen Minh Tuan, officer at MCH dept. MOH, had presentations on Health situation including problems at MCH field in Vietnam, health care system on MCH field in Vietnam, health care professionals and their education system in Vietnam.

Ms. Nguyen Hong Linh, project officer, explained about project basic information, and Dr. Dinh Thi Phuong Hoa, project advisor introduced MCH handbook and guidelines in Vietnam.

Moreover, the JOCVs visited some medical institutes in Hanoi, such as National Hospital of Obstetric and Genecology, National Hospital of Pediatric, Ha Tay Reproductive Health Care Center and Hanoi Secondary Medical School.

JOCVs said that "Many statistic data that was provide and through visiting some medical institute, we understood the MCH field in Vietnam."
