Information, Education and Communication campaigns at the project pilot provinces

One of the project activities is the "Implement Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities using the Maternal and Child Health handbook (MCH handbook)" on the Project Design Matrix. For this purpose, the project office already developed some IEC materials such as 3 types of the posters and 2 types of the leaflets, then distributed to the project pilot provinces of Dien Bien, Hoa Binh. Thanh Hoa and An Giang.

From January to February 2012, the Project Management Units (PMUs) in 4 provinces conducted the IEC campaigns in each province level and this year targeted district levels. The purpose of this campaign is to introduce on MCH handbook for the pregnant women, mothers who have the children under 1 year old, their family and neighbors etc.

IEC campaigns at the district level were invited more pregnant women, mothers who have children, the family and neighbors. Advocacy to the pregnant women and the mothers who use the MCH handbook is important. However, the support and encouragement from the family and neighbors for pregnant women and mothers to keep using the MCH handbook are also indispensable. In addition, MCH handbook should be announced in the public the throw the IEC activity is also a key to make this project successful.
