In the 2011 financial year, the four pilot provinces of Dien Bien, Hoa Binh. Thanh Hoa and An Giang have selected 30% of the districts of each province, and 100% of the communes of the selected districts for implementation of the MCH handbook. The pregnant women and mothers who have children under 1 year old should receive Maternal and Child Health handbook (MCH handbook) and start using it.
January to February 2012, the 4 provincial Project Management Units (PMUs) started to conduct the training for the health workers on the contents and how to use the Maternal and Child Health Handbook and the guideline.
The training courses were divided into 3 levels of the province, district, and commune depending on where the health workers work. There was one- day training for the province level and two-day training for district and commune level. The trainers who conducted trainings were participated in the 1st Training of Trainers in December 2011.
The following table shows the number of training courses and participants in the 2011 financial year. The 4 PMU conducted such big amount of the training courses for such a short period of 1.5 months.

The trainings for the health workers were almost done. Now from the end of March 2011, the MCH handbook will be provided to the pregnant women and the mothers who have the children under 1 year old soon.
