14 March 2012, the 1st Project Management Unit (PMU) annual meeting was conducted in Hanoi.

There were about 60 participants include,

• Maternal and Child Health departments (MCH dept.) and related departments, Ministry of Health (MOH)
• JICA Vietnam Office
• Project Coordinating Committee
• PMU members of project pilot 4 provinces of Dien Bien, Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa and An Giang, and the leaders of the target district for 2011 financial year (2011-FY)
• Working group for revising Maternal and Child Health handbook (MCH handbook)

The purpose of this meeting is the following:

• 1. To report on Progress reports of project office and 4 PMUs in 2011FY
• 2. To introduce of Activity plan on 2012F
• 3. To introduce of revised Project Design Matrix
• 4. To introduce the resulf of baseline survey
• 5. To discussion on how to implement MCH handbook, M&E, Training for health staff, IEC and Finance.

Dr. Nguyen Duy Khe, Director of MCH Dept., MOH, delivered the opening speech, and Ms. Ai Miura, Senior Project Formulation Advisor, JICA Vietnam also delivered the welcome speech.

Dr. Nguyen Duc Vinh, Vice director of MCH Dept., MOH/Project Director reported on the project progress in FY2011. Then 4 PMUs also reported on their progress, they achieved almost all their planes activities within their limited time.

The project has been passed one third periods since it was started 14 February 2011.

Something was not on the schedule and planned, however, we can finish this 2011FY somehow with many effort and cooperation by MCH Dept., MOH, 4 PMU and other related organizations. Next financial year, the implement MCH handbook to the pregnant women and mothers who has children under 1 year would be started and also new 30% selected districts and the 100% commune would be targeted. The project office will keep having tight collaboration with MOH and 4 PMU to achieve the project goal.
