Yen Bai province kicked off the JFY 2016 activities by organizing a referral meeting in Nghia Lo provincial regional hospital in April 2016. Referral meetings, as an achievement of the Project, has become one of regular activities in quarter basis in Yen Bai and other 5 target provinces including Hoa Binh, Son La, Dien Bien, Lao Cai, Lai Chau. This meeting is the first referral meeting organized in district level in Yen Bai province based on the output of the training on DOHA & referral activities conducted in the previous fiscal year.

It is also to make special note of inviting Cao Bang and Vinh Phuc province for the purpose of disseminating DOHA and referral activities by the Project. Project selected Cao Bang and Vinh Phuc province because the former has already good relationship with Yen Bai through the past study tour, and the latter is a province who made inquiries at the Project office about referralactivities.

During the meeting, Yen Bai Provincial General Hospital shared a comprehensive and visualized statistical report on DOHA and referal activities in the province in 2015. The report revealed total number of referral patients to central hospitals, total number of incoming referral patients from district hospitals with diagnosis of greater number of referral patients as well as the number of by-pass referral patients from commune health stations and regional clinic centers etc.

Cao Bang and Vinh Phuc province commented that this opportunity is a great motivation for them to share valuable experience on how to organize effective referral meetings since they have never organized a referral meeting before.

This year, the Project will continue its focus on the dissemination of the project achievements and experience to other provinces.

Dr. Lan Anh, Vice Director of DOH stressed on the importance of data consolidation and analysis for improving the quality of medical service in Yen Bai.
