Contents Five years have passed since Law on State Compensation Liability was enacted in Vietnam, and it will be revised in the next year according to legislative plan. The Department of State Compensation, Ministry of Justice has a plan to review the enforcement status of the law over the last five years as a part of activities with our project.
The first workshop to research the actual situation and collect the opinion was held on 28 May. Approximately 20 officials from northern area of Vietnam, such as Hanoi City, Hai Phong City, Bac Giang Province, Thai Binh Province etc. gathered to discuss at Do Son in the suburb of Hai Phong.
Mr. Hung, deputy director of the department and other two participants reported the current situation of the whole country, and the situation of Hai Phong City was also reported. Less than 300 cases were addressed until now of the whole country, but no case was duly filed in Hai Phong City. Some participants delivered opinions such as the procedure is too complicated for people, or professionals are not appointed, therefore, they shared the recognition that they haven't grasped demands enough due to institutional problems.
Further research and discussion is expected.
