9th Short-term Experts Mission for Risk Management

From 5 to 9 March 2018, the 9th Risk Management Mission was conducted in which two short-term experts from Japan Customs participated. On the 7th to 9th Mission, in order to further realize the activity 3.4 "Conduct training for customs officials in RM" of Output 3 of the Project, training in which Vietnam Customs officials become lecturers has been planned.

In this Mission, a workshop was held in Ho Chi Minh City as the third round, and lectures, etc. were conducted by General Department of Vietnam Customs (hereafter "GDVC") official lecturers in the field of information collection/analysis, selectivity criteria and trader management. Additionally, case study on information collection and selectivity criteria was conducted by short-term experts from Japan. In this training, some 80 officials newly assigned to risk management area from GDVC and 12 Local Customs Departments in the south of Vietnam participated in total.

After the workshop, Japan and Vietnam sides exchanged opinions about operation of the workshops until then, and discussed achievements by activities, objectively verifiable indicators, and future course of actions of the project.

Based on the results of series of previous missions and the study visit in May 2018, the actions to improve Risk Management operation and training course/materials for RM will be continuously considered.
