The Third Global Ministerial Summit on Patient Safety in Tokyo

The Third Global Ministerial Summit on Patient Safety held in Tokyo on April 13-14.

Dr. Ton Thanh Tra, head of the Quality Management Department, Cho Ray Hospital and Mr. Moriyama, long-term expert of JICA participated in the Summit. (Mr. Moriyama attended as an observer dispatched by the National Center for Global Health and Medicine, Japan.)

In this conference, Dr. Ton Thanh Tra gave a presentation on the current condition of Patient Safety in Viet Nam and the efforts he had made in the Project in Cho Ray Hospital. The approach for Patient Safety in Viet Nam received attention from the participants from other countries such as Myanmar, Laos, and Mongolia. A lot of questions and comments were given to Dr. Tra after his presentation.

Approximately 500 people including the representatives of the international organizations such as WHO and OECD, as well as cabinet ministers and experts of Patient Safety from 45 countries attended the Summit.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, Minister of Health of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam also attended the Summit and expressed her gratitude for the JICA's activities in her speech.
