Project News

The project visited Bac Giang PCPM on October 11, 2017 and Ha Giang PCPM on December 15, 2017. Bac Giang CDC is located in near Hanoi and works closely with NIHE. In our impression, Bac Giang CDC has strong willingness to participate in training activities of the project for strengthening the capacity of laboratory network. Ha Giang PCPM has only the minimum number of laboratory but it was well organized. In request for future, the expansion of two laboratories and supply of PCR(Polymerase Chain Reaction) machine were mentioned. Currently, Ha Giang PCPM has no PCR machine to conduct microbiological test. Ha Giang province shares long border with China, so it is necessary to strengthen the examination capacity of infectious diseases spreading across the border. In case of necessity, it takes 7 hours by car to transfer sample to NIHE for examination; therefore increasing the number of pathogens that can be examined by strengthening the capacity of the laboratory network will be important for quick response to infectious diseases.
