Online Training Course on Defense Practice against Cyber Attack

The training program "Defense Practice against Cyber Attacks" is organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Trend Micro Inc, taking place from 23rd September to 2th October, 2020. This time, due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, it's decided to conduct the program online. The participants were joined online from Timor-Leste, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Viet Nam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Bangladesh, and Nepal.

This course aims to achieve cybersecurity incident response capability of cyber incident management specialists and build a network among cybersecurity experts.

Training outline:
(1) to review knowledge on cybersecurity and network security techniques.
(2) to explain recent trends in cyberattacks and countermeasures.
(3) to develop an understanding of attack vectors of which are leveraged APT cyber attacks

Participants had the opportunity to practice the workshop exercises, which include a free trial for some commercial tools. Reviewing host-based investigation process, and using some tools like Process Explorer, TCPView, Autoruns, Windows Explorer… are beneficial for participants to investigate some unusual processes, network activity, entities & subscription services. Those are specifically helpful when dealing with zero-day malware that has never been seen. The training is also focused on forensic investigation procedures via analyzing unusual files using Windows command, Explorer, Task Manager, Event Viewer. Those things have strengthened learners' knowledge of digital forensic.

The training has strengthened the connections between professionals as well as improved technical skills.
