Training on ISO-17025 (General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories) for Common Criteria evaluation

JICA conducted a 3-day intensive training course on ISO-17025, one of the international standards. (10 AIS members participated)

ISO-17025 is a standard that certifies the ability of laboratories which perform product testing, measurement, and analysis to perform accurate measurements. In the Common Criteria evaluation, testing laboratories that follow ISO-17025 must be established to evaluate the security of IT products such as multifunctional printers, network devices, and security devices based on the established methods and processes.

For more information about the training on Common Criteria evaluation conducted in August 2020, please refer to here.

This time, the training was conducted online as the instructor was a Vietnamese expert living in France. In order to understand the requirements of ISO-17025, the participants were assigned the role of a testing laboratory and practiced role-playing in preparation for the actual Common Criteria evaluation.

Through the lecture and group work, the participants were able to have a concrete image of how ISO-17025 should be applied to the laboratory for Common Criteria assessment that they aim to establish in the future.

The project will continue to support the establishment of the Common Criteria evaluation system in Viet Nam through the framework of training and equipment provision.
