JP-US ICS Cybersecurity Week for the Indo-Pacific Region

From March 8-12, 2021, two officials from the AIS participated online in the "U.S.-Japan Industrial Control Systems Cyber Security Week for the Indo-Pacific Region".

* Although the JICA project did not conduct this training, we would like to introduce it in the project news because it is an important training related to critical information infrastructure protection (especially industrial control system security), which is also in high demand in Viet Nam.

The training was organized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Industrial Cyber Security Center (ICSCoE) of the Information-technology Promotion Agency, Japan (IPA) in collaboration with the United States and the European Union (EU), with the cooperation of nearly 50 experts from Japan, the United States and Europe.

Based on the foreign policy of a "Free and Open Indo-Pacific Region," more than 40 participants from about 14 countries in the region took part in the training.

During the first two days, the trainees learned practical industrial cybersecurity technologies from experts from Japan, the United States, and Europe. The second three days consisted of group workshops based on lectures by experts.

The participants learned the industrial cybersecurity techniques and recognized the importance of international cooperation in the field of cybersecurity for the realization of a "Free and Open Indo-Pacific region" through the exchange of opinions with experts, CSIRTs, and policy makers of various countries.

I hope that they will spread the industrial cyber security technology they learned and the mindset within the AIS that international cooperation is necessary for the stability and development of the region.
