Training on Certified Threat Intelligence Analyst to analyze cyber threats effectively

The "Certified Threat Intelligence Analyst" training was conducted for AIS staff for one week starting May 17, 2021. Many of them participated online this time due to the corona infection that spread in Hanoi just before the training.

Certified Threat Intelligence Analyst (CTIA) is a course for certification offered by the EC-Council (International Council of Electronic Commerce Consultants) in the United States.

Certified Network Defender (CDN), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Certified Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI) and Certified Application Security Engineer (CASE) offered by EC-Council are becoming popular training in Japan. However, CTIA is still not well known in Japan, and training courses in Japanese are finally becoming available.

In CTIA, participants can learn how to efficiently collect threat data that exists in fragments on the Internet, data about attacks and crimes published on the dark web (networks that can be accessed with special software), and further analyze the information processed into threat intelligence that is effective for cyber security measures.

In 2019, an application containing malicious software was discovered on the Google Play Store. The attackers allegedly used those apps to launch a campaign called PhantomLance, which attacked Android users in Viet Nam. Many of these attacks are carried out by a well-organized and highly sophisticated group called APT (Advanced Persistent Threat) group. APT groups often have a clear industry or company to target. Therefore, it is necessary to organize and utilize the information about the attackers as threat intelligence that can be handled by all layers from management to engineers.

AIS collects threat information as part of its business, and through this training, AIS will obtain and analyze information on attackers targeting organizations in Viet Nam in an accurate and timely manner, thereby strengthening its defense against APT attacks.
