Training on General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

Training on General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) was conducted online by Ushijima & Partners, Attorneys-at-Law for two days from 22nd and 23rd November 2021. From Viet Nam, 12 participants from the Authority of Information Security (AIS) of the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) participated in the training.

The GDPR is a regulation to strengthen data protection within the European Union (EU). The GDPR also covers the export of personal information outside the European Union, which means that companies with branches in the European Union and companies that do business with people living in the European Union will also have to comply with the GDPR.

The two-day training started with the origins of the GDPR and the theoretical content of the GDPR as well as case studies of actual cases. In addition, the latest status of personal information protection in the U.S., China, and Asia was shared. The trainees were particularly interested in the case studies that the lecturers (lawyer) had experienced, as they were interested in practical experiences that directly relate to the realities of business, rather than theories on the table.

As Viet Nam is in the process of drafting regulations on personal information protection, it is hoped that the knowledge gained through this training will lead to the strengthening of data protection and personal information protection in Viet Nam.
