Online Follow-Up Seminar for ex-participants of Medium-term training

Our project conducts a Medium-term training for 3 months in Japan each year for five mid-level officers who are expected to play an active role as policy makers.

In November 24, 2020, a Follow-Up Seminar for ex-participants of Medium-term training in 2019 was held through online connection between Japan and Viet Nam. In Hanoi, the counterpart organizations, Department of Training and Professional Development, Central Committee of Organization and Personnel, Communist Party of Vietnam (CCOP) and JICA Vietnam Office co-chaired the Seminar.

The seminar was held in three parts.
The first part was a lecture entitled "Japanese experience and lessons in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic" by Professor Emeritus Masahiro HORIE of the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS). The second part was presentations from ex-participants of Medium-term training in 2019. The last part covered a recent report from the past Medium-term training participants (2014-2017), promoting exchanges among participants and friendship.

Since this seminar was held online due to the pandemic of COVID-19, a large number of participants were able to participate in both Vietnam and Japan, bringing a valuable experience for all participants. The project would like to continue to carry out the project activities while exploring possible methods of training during the pandemic.
