Acacia seedlings are beginning to be shipped in Tuyen Quang Province

In November 2022, we announced that the SNRM2 project would support the nursery development of the Tan Trao Special Use Forest Management Board (hereinafter referred to as the Tan Trao SUFMB) in Tuyen Quang Province, and the shipment of seedlings from the nursery has finally started.

In mid-November, the Tan Trao SUFMB's nursery planted acacia, a fast-growing species. The SUFMB staff performed regular watering, production control and monitoring. The seedlings grew steadily, reaching an average height of over 50cm in April, and the survival rate was high at about 90%, although some died due to bad weather.

The seedlings will be purchased by the province and distributed to local residents for afforestation. The first batch of seedlings (12,000) was delivered in early April. A total of about 90,000 seedlings (covering about 54 ha planting) are scheduled to be delivered by the end of June 2023.

In addition to acacia seedlings, the nursery is also producing seedlings of native species to help restore natural forest resources.
