Seminar on the Amended Intellectual Property Law

On September 30, a seminar on the amended Intellectual Property Law was held in cooperation with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and the Vietnam Intellectual Property Research Institute (VIPRI) for Japanese businesspersons.

The seminar was conducted in a hybrid format of face-to-face and online, with 24 participants at the site and 6 participants online.

Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam (IP Viet nam) and VIPRI gave a presentation on the amended IP Law to the participants.

Since many patent applications are submitted by Japanese companies in Vietnam, it is very important for Japanese companies to understand the revised IP Law. It also leads to smoothly operate the IP system in Vietnam.

During the seminar, a Q&A session was also held, some questions were raised by participants and answered by IP Viet nam and VIPRI. Through the Q&A session, IP Viet nam and VIPRI were able to understand which parts of the amended IP Law are of particularly interest to Japanese companies.

In opening remarks, Dr. Nguyen Huu Can, Deputy Director General of VIPRI, stated that he was pleased to hold this seminar together with JICA. He also commented that this is the fourth amendment of the Intellectual Property Law and that he thinks it is the most important revision so far, and that he hopes this seminar will be contribute to the economic development of both Japan and Vietnam.

The materials and minutes of this seminar are available on the " Materials" page of this website.

In this project, we will continue to contribute to the development of the Vietnamese intellectual property industry, in cooperation with Japanese IP professionals.
