Sponsoring for World Bank’s Vietnam Innovation Day (VID)

The project called as the Vietnam Innovation Day (VID) is being implemented annually by the World Bank with objective of increasing peoples’ awareness on various social issues in Vietnam. Traffic safety is selected as the main theme for this year. From all over the country, about 250 project proposals have been submitted and as a result 32 projects have been selected through the initial documentary screening on 14 June 2007 and the final presentation review on 15 June 2007. For the fund of each selected project activity, about US$10,000 has been granted from the World Bank and other donor organizations, etc.
In response to the request from the World Bank, TRAHUD represented by JICA Vietnam Office dispatched Mr. Takagi, Chief Advisor, as one of the assessment committee members and sponsored to two projects for funding as part of donor‘s collaboration. Activities of these 2 projects are based in Hanoi and expected to contribute for the TRAHUD activities.

1)Traffic Safety for People Working on Streets (Dong Da District Labor Union–Hanoi)

2)Formulating the Brochure on Vietnam Traffic Safety (website and CD), Green Information Group, ITIMS (International Training Institute for Materials and Science), Hanoi University of Technology

The selected projects are distributed not only in urban areas of Hanoi and HCMC but also from northern mountainous region to southern Mekong Delta region. Most of the selected projects proposed grass-roots activities and their presentations were well designed and impressive. VID’s major sponsors are the World Bank, JICA and other donor organizations of Australia, UK, USA, New Zealand, Swiss, Denmark, etc., NGO and private sector.
