The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) located in Bangkok, Thailand is an international graduate school for engineering and technology and has been turning out a lot of competent leaders in Asian countries. Traffic Accident Research Center (TARC) under AIT has been actively working on research and development of traffic accident analysis and traffic safety audit system and positioned as a base organization of traffic safety studies under the ASEAN Traffic Safety Action Plan conducted by the Asian Development Bank. In response to the request from AIT-TARC through JICA Asian Regional Office in Bangkok, TRAHUD dispatched our experts to AIT-TARC to investigate their activities conditions and to discuss about further cooperation. From TRAHUD Mr. Takagi (Chief Advisor) and Dr. Masujima joined in this mission and received by Dr. Kunnawee (TARC Manager) and Dr. Pichai (TARC Expert).

In the universities in Vietnam, education of basic subjects for traffic safety such as traffic engineering and transport technology is still insufficient. This situation causes a delay in responding to worsening traffic problems in Vietnam. Therefore, TRAHUD is working to improve basic practical capabilities of traffic police and traffic engineers. It is necessary to cooperate with research institute such as universities in the training of leaders with higher expertise. For this reason, a level-up of Vietnamese research institute is very essential. In this process, some training programs by international research institutes such as AIT are to be considered in the medium-/long-term training program.
