Traffic Safety Training Workshop for School Principals and Teachers

Based on the Government Resolution No.32, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training designed traffic safety training workshop and requested its implementation to the Sub-committee for Education and Public Relation under Hanoi Traffic Safety Committee. Although the scope of TRAHUD activities does not include direct education at school, TRAHUD extended cooperation for conducting this training workshop in consideration of broad sense of traffic safety education promotion. Schedule and major contents of the training workshop are as follows:

->29 August 2007 (8:30am-11:00am)
Participants: principals and teachers of kindergarten (about 100 persons)
1) Orientation of School Education on Traffic Safety Measures
2) Current Situation of School Education on Traffic Safety in Japan (at kindergartens)
3) Growing Characteristics and Traffic Accidents of Infant Child (including behavior mechanism)
4) Participation-Experience-Practice Method
5) Safety Management in Kindergartens

->30 August 2007 (8:30am-11:00am)
Participants: principals and teachers of primary and secondary schools (about 100 persons)
1) Orientation of School Education on Traffic Safety Measures
2) Current Situation of School Education on Traffic Safety in Japan (at primary and secondary schools)
3) Growing Characteristics and Traffic Accidents of Pupils (including behavior mechanism)
4) Participation-Experience-Practice Method
5) Safety Management in primary/secondary schools

->31 August 2007 (8:30am-11:00am)
Participants: principals and teachers of high schools (about 100 participants)
1) Orientation of School Education on Traffic Safety Measures
2) Current Situation of School Education on Traffic Safety in Japan (at high schools)
3) Participation-Experience-Practice Method
4) Training of Two-wheeled Vehicle Driving (use of video produced by YAMAHA)
5) Safety Management in high schools

The 3-days training workshop was well attended with fruitful question and answer sessions. Active participation of the school managers and teachers in the workshop proved a high desire for effective contents and method for traffic safety education at school due to increasing traffic accidents for kids and pupils in recent years.
