A new book “GOTŌ SHINPEI, Statesman of Vision: Research, Public Health, and Development” by JICA President KITAOKA has been published.

JICA President KITAOKA’s new book“GOTŌ SHINPEI, Statesman of Vision: Research, Public Health, and Development” was published by the Japan Publishing Industry Foundation for Culture (JPIC), on March 27th, 2021. This is the English edition of President Kitaoka’s book Gotō Shinpei: Gaikō to vijon, published in 1988 in Japanese.
GOTŌ Shinpei was a unique figure of truly immense vision, a singular politician who left a profound trace on the very substance of modern Japan. Some thirty years have passed since the initial publication of this book in Japanese; and yet, this book is relevant in our current global circumstances in terms of public health administration, urban planning, and development.
This book will be used as a reading material in the JICA Development Studies Program.
