JICA President Tanaka held talks with UNHCR Grandi

On November 28, JICA President Tanaka Akihiko met with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Filippo Grandi at JICA Headquarters.
During the meeting, President Tanaka and High Commissioner Grandi reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration, with the aim of advancing initiatives related to the pledges made at the second Global Refugee Forum held in Geneva in December 2023.
They exchanged opinions on the current situation of refugees and host communities in the Middle East and other regions. In addition, both parties shared the view that the Humanitarian-Development-Peace (HDP) Nexus has become all the more important and confirmed their intention to continue efforts to strengthen this approach across various regions.
JICA remains committed to enhancing its partnership with the UNHCR to support solutions for refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) through development cooperation.
