JICA Executive Senior Vice President Miyazaki Met with UNHCR Grandi

On October 15, JICA Executive Senior Vice President Miyazaki Katsura met with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Filippo Grandi at JICA Headquarters.
During the meeting, they reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration, with the aim of advancing initiatives related to the pledges made at the second Global Refugee Forum (GRF) held in Geneva in December 2023.
Executive Senior Vice President Miyazaki expressed her appreciation for the strengthened partnership between UNHCR and JICA over the past decade of High Commissioner Grandi’s tenure, particularly through collaboration in the Humanitarian-Development-Peace (HDP) Nexus and personnel exchanges.
Both sides shared a mutual understanding of the importance of delivering high-level messages on refugee-related efforts at the mid-term review meeting of GRF scheduled for this December. They also reaffirmed their commitment to continue working together to address issues on refugees and host communities across various regions, including Kenya and Uganda.
JICA remains committed to enhancing its partnership with UNHCR and contributes to providing solutions for refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in developing countries through development cooperation.
