Signing of Japanese ODA Loan Agreement with Nigeria: Contributing to the stabilization of the electricity supply in Lagos and Ogun states through the development of power-transmission and substation networks

2022.12.16
On December 15, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a loan agreement with the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Abuja to provide a Japanese ODA loan of up to 26,180 million yen for the Lagos and Ogun Power Transmission System Improvement Project.
This project aims to enhance the transmission wheeling capability and the stability of the electric power supply of Nigeria by installing transmission lines and building new substation facilities—as well as improving existing facilities—within Lagos State and Ogun State, which form the industrial hub of the country. By doing so, it will contribute to the economic and social development of Nigeria. This project will also contribute to the achievement of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) Goal 7 (Affordable and clean energy).
