JICA received for 4 sustainable infrastructure awards for financing in the following development projects in 2022, at the 8th Sustainable Infrastructure Awards annually organized by the Asset, the international finance magazine. Mr. Kota Yasumura, Director of Private Sector Investment Finance Division, received the award plaques at the ceremony.

  • Central Asia Deal of the Year:Zarafshan Wind Farm Project in Uzbekistan(September 2, 2022)
  • Transport Deal of the Year – Electric Mobility:Smart Ferry project along Chao Phraya River in Thailand(April 27, 2022)
  • Renewable Energy Deal of the Year – Wind:Ninh Thuan Province onshore wind power project in Vietnam(December 20, 2022)
  • Renewable Energy Deal of the Year – Waste-to-energy:Waste to Energy and Waste Treatment Project in Binh Duong Province, Vietnam(December 9, 2022)

JICA's Private Sector Investment Finance have focused on infrastructure, growth acceleration, and projects that contribute to the achievement of the SDGs, along with the scaling up of projects that address combating climate change. The award-winning projects all encourage innovative efforts to combat climate change and are expected to serve as model cases to attract private investment in similar projects to follow in various fields and regions.

These projects were realized through co-financing by development finance institutions and private financial institutions, and JICA will continue to expand sustainable finance and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs), including climate change countermeasures, in developing countries through further collaboration with various partner institutions.
