Structural change is vital for long-run growth and poverty reduction in low-income countries, and how growth strategy and industrial policy can facilitate such change has been on international agenda. Identifying appropriate growth strategy and industrial policy which effectively facilitates the structural changes is crucial for sustainable development especially in countries like Africa where, despite recent growth, only limited structural changes are observed.

A few months before the 5th Tokyo International Conference on African Development in Yokohama, this Seminar will invite key intellectuals in the area of Africa and Industrial Development to discuss the potentials and challenges of industrial policy towards African development and the roles of development assistance.
