Shinichi Takeuchi Wins Okita Memorial Prize for International Development Research

JICA-RI Senior Research Fellow Shinichi Takeuchi

The Foundation for Advanced Studies on International Development (FASID) has chosen JICA-RI Senior Research Fellow Shinichi Takeuchi's book, The Post-Colonial Patrimonial State and Conflict in Africa: Understanding the Genocide in Rwanda (Akashi Shoten, 2009), as the winner of the 13th Okita Memorial Prize for International Development Research. FASID awards the prize annually to outstanding works of international development research literature excelling in originality and impact. Takeuchi co-leads a JICA-RI research project entitled "State-building in Conflict-Prone Countries," focusing on conflict and peace-building in Africa and elsewhere.

The award ceremony and a commemorative lecture by the award winner, Takeuchi, will be held at FASID in Tokyo on December 22.
