New Video Release: Interview With Ishikawa Sachiko on Human Security

JICA Ogata Sadako Research Institute for Peace and Development (JICA Ogata Research Institute) has released a video of an interview with Specially Appointed professor Ishikawa Sachiko of Ritsumeikan University, Kyoto, titled “Exploring Human Security and Development Practice.”

Ishikawa is co-editor of the book “Human Security and Empowerment in Asia ” and has studied how the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) was involved in the peace process in Mindanao in the Philippines. In this interview, she mentions that Japan’s assistance to Mindanao was, from the onset, based on the goal of achieving human security, and its approach ultimately led to the 3D (Diplomacy, Defense, and Development) aid structure.

The book reports the results of a research project titled “Human Security and the Practices of Empowerment in East Asia ” conducted by the JICA Ogata Research Institute for Peace and Development.
