JICA Ogata Sadako Research Institute for Peace and Development is conducting the Empirical Research Project on Impacts of Study Abroad in Developing Countries – based on Study Abroad Experiences of Academic Professionals of Major Universities in ASEAN Countries. The research employs a large-scale survey and interviews with academic professionals at ten top universities in four ASEAN countries (Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia and Viet Nam) to examine the impacts of study abroad on university development and their current activities at the university. Further, trends in studying abroad over time will be identified in the data. The reports in this series were prepared as part of this research project to gather essential information on the history and current status of higher education and the impacts of study abroad on academic professionals in each of the four ASEAN countries.
