Training and Scholarship Programs

As one of JICA's cooperation initiatives, training and scholarship programs provide government personnel an opportunity to acquire specialized knowledge and upgrade their skills through courses held in Japan, the Philippines, and other countries. See below for the programs JICA Philippines offer.

Knowledge Co-Creation Program

The Knowledge Co-Creation Program (KCCP), a cornerstone of JICA’s technical cooperation, fostering mutual learning between Japan and partner countries. Conducted in Japan, online or in hybrid setup, KCCP provides participants with immersive experiences to deepen their understanding of Japan’s unique development, shaped by local and foreign knowledge and technologies. Rooted in Japan’s Development Cooperation Charter’s objective of “reciprocal relationships with developing countries in which both sides learn from each other and grow and develop together”, the program promotes shared growth through dialogue and collaboration while respecting each country’s identity and priorities. By equipping participants with first-hand insights and expertise, KCCP empowers them to drive meaningful change in their home countries.

The Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship

It is the aim of The Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship by Japanese Grant Aid or JDS (former Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship) to support human resource development of the Japanese grant aid recipient countries. JDS Project targets the highly capable young officials (mainly government) who are expected to engage in implementing social and economic development plans as a future leader.

Third Country Training Program

In the effort to promote Technical Cooperation among Developing Countries (TCDC), JICA initiated a third-party cooperation with a number of developing countries through the Third Country Training Program (TCTP). Under this scheme, participants from the host country and neighboring countries undergo training in a research or educational institute or government agency in the host country. The choice of a training institute is based on its leadership in the area or field of study in the region as well as its capacity to handle the program.

Through this program, local resource experts play a leading role both in organizing the training program as well as, transferring their expertise by using local language even more suitable to the local context and local participants.
