Presentation of Output 2’s results by Mr Okabayashi, Chief Advisor of the Project

The project aimed to improve stakeholders’ capacity to comply with regulations and procedures related to logging activities and promoting technical development related to natural regeneration and promotion of low emission logging. This project has been instrumental in capacity development to establish a strong foundation for stakeholders to understand and effectively implement the Planning and Monitoring Control Procedures (PMCP) & Logging Code of Practice (LCoP), assisted natural regeneration practice, and promotes low emission logging.

Presentation of Output 3’s recommendations by Mr Jenkihau, Project Manager of PNGFA side

Prof. Philip Siaguru, Director of Forest Research Institute, making comments during discussions.

During the meeting, the project team presented project results including indicator reviews and recommendations based on the key project outputs. Thus far, the project has achieved a remarkable outcomes including improved stakeholders understanding of PMCP and LCoP through comprehensive trainings, the successful development of user manual of Assisted Natural Regeneration (ANR), implementations of ANR at three pilots, and the development of methods for monitoring, recording, and reporting emissions, reduction from logging operations.

This continued collaboration between JICA and PNGFA shows a significant step towards achieving PNG’s sustainable development goals. This continued effort underscores JICA's commitment to capacity building and empowerment of PNGFA officers to ensure the long-term and strategic development of PNG's climate and environmental goals are achieved.
