From Donated Books to Children’s Futures - Book Donation Campaign for Popondetta Primary School Library-

My name is Kitayama, and I am a JICA Volunteer. I am currently working as a primary school teacher at Popondetta Primary School in Popondetta, Oro Province. I would like to report on the Book Donation Campaign that was carried out in preparation for the opening of the Popondetta Primary School library.

With the cooperation of the Department of Education, we placed donation boxes inside the Department building and asked people to donate books that they no longer read but were still in good condition.Many people, especially those working in education, kindly supported this campaign.Some Development Donors told us that they hoped their books would be useful for children’s learning in the future.

Thanks to their generosity, we were able to collect many books.

Preparation for the Library Opening
All donated books were carefully checked and organized. They were sorted by level and content so that they can be easily used in the school library. Seeing the books gradually fill the shelves of the library reminded us of the importance of creating an environment where children can freely access books and enjoy reading.

Looking Ahead
We received a great deal of support through this campaign, and we are truly grateful.
However, the number of books is still not sufficient to fully support the needs of all students.
For this reason, we would like to continue this initiative and expand the circle of support by involving more people and organizations in the future.

Donations are collected for the Popondetta Primary School Library, and the local contact person is a teacher at the school who oversees the library's activities.
